Watermark Counseling KC

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 09.22.2026

Watermark Counseling KC ("Watermark," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through watermarkcounselingkc.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

This Website Is Not Part of Your Therapy Record

This policy covers the Site only. It does not cover the confidential clinical information you share with Janet Clevenger, MS, LCMFT, as a client. That information is protected under HIPAA and state law, and our separate Notice of Privacy Practices explains how we handle it. Please review that notice for information about your rights regarding clinical records.

Please do not send sensitive health or personal details through the Site's contact form, by email, or through social media messages. Those channels are not designed for confidential clinical communication. Scheduling and client paperwork are handled securely through SimplePractice, our HIPAA-compliant client portal.

If you are in crisis, please do not use the Site or email to reach us. Call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.

Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through the Site. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Information We Collect

Information you give us.

When you fill out a contact form, request a free consultation, subscribe to our newsletter, or email us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, and anything you choose to include in your message. We only ask for what we need to respond to you or provide the service you requested.

Information collected automatically.

Like most websites, the Site automatically collects some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and the site that referred you. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies described below.

Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

We use the following tools to understand how people use the Site and to reach others who may benefit from our services:

  • Google Analytics (GA4) helps us see how visitors find and use the Site. Learn more or opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Meta Pixel helps us measure the effectiveness of our Facebook and Instagram outreach and show relevant content to people who have visited the Site. You can adjust your ad preferences in your Meta account settings.

These tools collect general browsing information. They are not used on our secure client portal, and we do not use them to collect health information. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the Site may not work as intended if you do.

If you contact us by email, we may keep your message and our reply so we can serve you well. If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter or Substack, we will send you occasional updates and resources. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
